Report on the 2023 Fete

On behalf of the St Martin’s Guild Fete Committee, thank you to everyone who helped with and came to the Fete.

A huge thank you must go to Mr and Mrs Ward who hosted the Fete as well as to Mr and Mrs Dalrymple who allowed parking in their field. The Committee is also very appreciative that Mr and Mrs Wormsley allowed tours of their beautiful garden at The Old Rectory.

The Fete was blessed with good weather, and the crowds came pouring in. Entertainment was provided by the East Woodhay Silver Band who were on fine form.

In the Central Arena Sam from Kate Brasher Dog Training ran the dog show with over fifty dogs taking part in the different classes.

A big thank you also goes to Pete Mason and friends, who brought some wonderful vintage cars for everyone to look at.

The provisional figures show that we made over £11,000 on the day and hopefully, including donations and after expenses are taken out, the total should be over £16,000.

Thanks to our site manager Graham Heald, to Hugh Titcomb and Rodolph de Salis who managed the parking alongside Donald Mackinnon, to the gate keepers Elaine and Andrew Colville, Gerrard Renouf and Lucy and James de Albuquerque. Thanks to the amazing tea ladies organised by Sarah Ede. Thanks also to Camilla West, Fiona Hurley, Nicola Chapman and volunteers from St Martin’s School who ran the spectacular Children’s Games alongside the Woolton Hill Argyle Football Club. Thanks to the Wheatman family and their beer tent, Anne Aston’s Granny’s Attic, Jackie Wake’s East Woodhay Artisans and their wonderful creations, the Roskill family’s Ice Cream stall, Rhona Everard’s cake stall, Jenny Sanders’ Books, the Wilsons’ Tombola, Sarah Porter’s wonderful plant stall, the Foxons’ Hotdog stand, and Jonathan Hopson’s raffle, Neighbourcare and the East Woodhay Society, Jonathan Harris and Butler’s hot air balloon, as well as the many willing volunteers who put up the tents, manned the stalls and sideshows all afternoon and put it all away at the end of the day.

Thank you everyone.
